| The
Writeup: A gorgeous auburn haired actress, Debra Paget
was signed to a long term contract by 20th Century Fox when
she was only 15, making her feature film debut in Cry of the
City (1948). Over the next decade she would star in a wide
range of fun films, including westerns, high seas adventures,
and dramas. Notable films include House of Strangers (1949),
Fourteen Hours (1951), Anne of the Indies (1951), Les Miserables
(1952), Prince Valiant (1954), Princess of the Nile (1954),
Demetrius and the Gladiators (1954), White Feather (1955),
The Ten Commandments (1956), Love Me Tender (1956, appearing
opposite Elvis in his first movie), The River's Edge (1957)
and The Loves of Omar Khayyam (1957). In 1958 she went to
Germany to star for Fritz Lang in two productions, movies
that would eventually be lumped together and show in the US
as Journey to the Lost City (1959). She appeared in Cleopatra's
Daughter (1960) before returning to the US but found that
her draw among moviegoers had mostly faded when she returned.
She subsequently appeared in a few horror films, Most Dangerous
Man Alive (1961), Edgar Allan Poe's Tales of Terror (1962),
and The Haunted Palace (1963), before retiring. |
