Writeup: Cynthia Rhodes experienced a brief career
high in the 1980s, first appearing as Jackie in the Saturday
Night Fever sequel Staying Alive (1983), dancing opposite
John Travolta. She received a great deal of publicity for
the role, including a people magazine cover story. She subsequently
appeared in the mega hit Flashdance (1983), plus Runaway (1984),
Dirty Dancing (1987, playing Penny Johnson in another mega
hit) and Curse of the Crystal Eye (1991). In 1989 she married
musician Richard Marx. She appeared in his 1987 video Don't
Mean Nothing, and I'm just presuming that's where they met.
She has not done any work since her aforementioned 1991 feature
film. I'm guessing being married to a rich and successful
pop star is better than being a struggling actress. |
