Writeup: A native of Chicago, Illinois, Cynda Williams
is a stunningly beautiful African American actress who made
her feature film debut in Spike Lee's Mo' Better Blues (1990),
playing a supporting role. She has since forged an impressive
career in supporting parts, along with the occasional lead
role. The quality of her films ranges greatly, but that has
very little to do with her contributions, which are generally
stellar. For her second feature film, the indie One False
Move (1992), she was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award
for Best Actress. Other notable films include The Killing
Box (1993), the thrilling The Tie That Binds (1995), Condition
Red (1996), Spirit Lost (1996), Caught Up (1998), the indie
Relax... It's Just Sex (1998), playing a supporting role,
a small role in MacArthur Park (2001), and With or Without
You (2003). She also had a meaty supporting part as Vivian
Dandridge in the Halle Berry starrer Introducing Dorothy Dandridge
(1999), for HBO. |
