Writeup: Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, Connie actually
achieved her success as an actress in England, first hitting
it big as a member of Monty Python's Flying Circus, playing
various characters on the show from 1969-1972. No doubt her
marriage to Python founding member John Cleese helped with
this (the two were hitched in 1968). She next appeared as
Polly Sherman on Fawlty Towers from 1975-1979, a show she
also helped write. Her final British TV show role was as Lucy
Connor on the ITV show The Tomorrow People, which ran from
1992-95. Her first TV movie was John Cleese's funny mock documentary
How to Irritate People (1968), in which he narrates a number
of sketches outlining excellent ways to irritate people. Other
TV movies include Thank You Comrades (1978), The Hound of
the Baskervilles (1983), Nairobi Affair (1984), and The Return
of Sherlock Holmes (1987). She also appeared in the now legendary
Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975), her second feature
film. Other feature films include The Story of Ruth (1981),
84 Charing Cross Road (1987), High Spirits (1988) and Leon
the Pig Farmer (1992). However, her most memorable work remains
the funny stuff she did with the Python boys. |
