Writeup: A big star in the late 60s and early 70s,
Cloris Leachman is a former Miss America runner up who has
had an obscenely long and healthy career as an actress, spanning
six decades now. She was a Best Supporting Actress Academy
Award as a housewife who has an affair with a younger man
in 1971's The Last Picture Show and has a good history with
Mel Brooks, appearing in three of his films. It's the Mel
Brooks film's that she's probably best remembered for, including
her brilliant turn in the 1974 film Young Frankenstein as
the hideously ugly Frau Blucher. She worked with Brooks twice
more on High Anxiety and A History Of The World Part 1, all
films from Brooks' heyday as a comedy purveyor. |
