Writeup: Christina Pickles is a lovely character actress
whose career has spanned three decades, beginning with her
role as Linell Conway on The Guiding Light from 1970-72. After
that stint she appeared in two feature films, Seizure (1974)
and Rush It (1976) before landing a role on Another World,
playing Countess Elena dePoulignac from 1977-79. 1982 brought
one of her most well known roles as Nurse Helen Rosenthal
on St. Elsewhere, a mega popular drama for six years. She
has also appeared as a series regular on the shows The People
Next Door (1989) and Get Real (1999), both of which were short
lived. Most current TV viewers probably know her as Judy Geller,
the mother of both Ross and Monica on television's #1 sitcom,
Friends. She has five Emmy nominations to her credit, 4 for
her role on St. Elsewhere and 1 for her guest appearance on
Friends. Other feature films she's been in include Masters
of the Universe (1987, starring Dolph Lundgren as He-Man),
Legends of the Fall (1994, one of Brad Pitt's early star turns),
Romeo + Juliet (1996), The Wedding Singer (1998), Angels Don't
Sleep Here (2000) and Sol Goode (2001). |
