Writeup: The former spouse of Cary Grant (they were
married from 1949 to 1962), Betsy led a fairly short lived
career in Hollywood. Her credits span a great deal of years
(17 to be exact), but she only performed in 9 films in that
time. This was also a time when many actresses were doing
3-4 films a year during their heyday, so her lack of work
is astonishing, although it's possible she wasn't very much
in demand. Her debut was in Every Girl Should Be Married (1948),
and over the next seventeen years she appeared in Dancing
in the Dark (1949), Pretty Baby (1950), The Second Woman (1951),
Room for One More (1952), Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter?
(1957), Intent to Kill (1958), Next to No Time (1960), Clarence,
the Cross-Eyed Lion (1965). One more interesting thing: Betsy
was a passenger on the ill fated ship The Andrea Doria, and
barely escaped with her life. |
