Writeup: A glamorous beauty, Barbara Bain was born
in Chicago and was educated by Lee Strasburg at the prestigious
Actors Studio. Barbara is best known for her work on the 60s
TV series Mission: Impossible, playing Cinnamon Carter for
three years, from 1966-69. In that time she became the first
actress to earn three consecutive Emmy awards for Best Actress
in a Drama Series. She left the show (I'm assuming) in 1969
(the ran until 1973) for other opportunities. As best I can
tell, those opportunities didn't pan out. She never established
a booming feature film career, and the other notable TV work
she did was the British sci-fi show Space: 1999, which ran
from 1975-77. She has appeared in a number of feature films,
starting with Skinheads (1989), and they include The Spirit
of '76 (1990), Dry Martini (1998), Panic (2000) and American
Gun (2002). Despite all her work, Mission: Impossible still
remains her career defining role, a ground breaking work. |
