| The
Writeup: Audra Lindley's career peaked during the
70s, but it had actually begun long before then, in the 40s,
when she did a bit of stand in work in Hollywood pictures
like Dangerously They Live (1941). At some point she felt
like things weren't progressing as she had hoped and she moved
to New York to pursue a career on the stage. She performed
for years on Broadway before making her way to television
in the serial drama From These Roots (1958-1961). After this
role she subsequently appeared on television almost constantly
over the next 40 years, whether it be on a TV series of made
for TV movies. Her next role was the soap Search for Tomorrow
(1962), followed by another soap, The Edge of Night (1962).
She then began a long run on Another World, playing Elizabeth
Matthews from 1964-1969. More TV shows followed, including
Bridget Loves Bernie (1972), Fay (1975), Doc (1976), and her
most well known role as Helen Roper on Three's Company (1977).
She played Helen from 1977-1979 and was then given a spinoff
series with her costar Norman Fell, entitled The Ropers. The
series tanked and the she was back on Three's Company for
the 1981 season. After Three's Company her series regular
resume dries up, but she did manage to land recurring roles
on The Love Boat and Cybill in her career. She also appeared
in 13 feature films in her career, including Cannery Row (1982),
Spellbinder (1988), The New Age (1994) and The Relic (1997).
She passed away in 1997 due to complications from leukemia. |
