| The
Writeup: A glamorous actress with limited range, Arlene
signed her first studio contract with Warner Bros, and made
her debut with an uncredited role in Life with Father (1947).
Apparently the contract was short lived, because that's the
only film she ever appeared in for them. In 1948 she signed
with MGM and that's where she made her most notable impact.
Her films for Metro include The Bride Goes Wild (1948), Scene
of the Crime (1949), Reign of Terror (1949), Three Little
Words (1950), No Questions Asked (1951), Desert Legion (1953),
Here Come the Girls (1953), A Woman's World (1954), Portrait
in Smoke (1956), and Journey to the Center of the Earth (1959).
Due to her good looks and limited range Arlene was never cast
in anything beyond your typical glamour roles, therefore her
heyday didn't last all that long and in 1959 she left film
making and became a beauty columnist and business woman. She
established Arlene Dahl Enterprises, which specialized in
lingerie and cosmetics. She subsequently appeared in a few
films here and there, but nothing fancy. |
