| The
Writeup: Ann Morgan Guilbert's career spans a surprisingly
long time, beginning in the early sixties and ending, at least
at this point, in the late 90s. That's nearly 40 years for
those of you who are counting. Ann's first role, and her breakout
part, was as Millie Helper on the hugely popular The Dick
Van Dyke Show, which ran on CBS from 1961-1966. Since then
she has been mostly a TV actress, spanning multiple decades.
After her first role she was cast in the series Hey, Landlord,
playing Mrs. Henderson from 1966-67. She starred in the 70s
series The New Andy Griffith Show (1971) but it was pulled
after only a handful of episodes. The 90s brought a bit of
a revolution for Ann, with three TV shows on her resume for
the decade. It started with The Fanelli Boys (1990), a short
lived show. She was cast on the David E. Kelley show Picket
Fences in 1992, playing Miriam Wambaugh until 1995. At the
same time she was appearing on CBS' The Nanny, which starred
Fran Drescher. She played the grandmother, Yetta Rosenberg,
on The Nanny for all six years of the show's run. She has
also appeared in the feature film The Man from the Diner's
Club (1963 - her debut), One Man's Way (1964), A Guide for
the Married Man (1967), Viva Max! (1970), Grumpier Old Men
(1995) and Sour Grapes (1998). |
