Writeup: Chosen by Empire Magazine as one of the 100
sexiest stars in film history (#98), Anita is a Swedish beauty
who came over to the States in the early 50s and made her
feature film debut in Abbott And Costello Go To Mars (1953).
She was a statuesque beauty and was slightly difficult to
cast because of her looks and lack of serious acting chops.
Sample roles from that period include Artists And Models (1955),
Hollywood Or Bust (1956), Back From Eternity (1956), Zarak
(1956), Valerie (1957), Screaming Mimi (1958), and Sheba And
The Gladiator (1959). Anita will always be best rememberd
for her role in Fellini's La Dolce Vita (1960) playing Sylvia.
Fellini liked her so much that he cast her in his segment
of the film Boccaccio '70. She appeared on film consistently
in the '60s, but there was nothing memorable or particularly
impressive during that period. She disappeared from American
movies by the 70s and appeared later in the decade, significantly
overweight, and appeared in mostly junk movies. |
