Writeup: While black actresses are rarely afforded
any opportunity to work in big budget mainstream films, Angela
has managed to work steadily since 1985. A sharply beautiful
woman, Angela has a talent for playing the angry woman done
wrong. It's something in her face, but it doesn't take long
for her transform into a furious, steaming tower of anger.
Like any, her career has seen it's share of bombs (Vampire
In Brooklyn, Critters 4, Strange Days), but she's one of the
more well respected actresses in Hollywood because of performances
like the one she gave in What's Love Got To Do With It, playing
Tina Turner, for which she earned an Oscar nomination. Angela
has been underused in her films lately (see The Score), but
look for the future to bring meatier roles and more impressive
performances. |
