| The
Writeup: Amy Poehler is an incredibly gifted comic
actress who has worked hard in Hollywood and finally appears
to be seeing the fruits of all her labor. Her first experience
was in the 1996 TV movie Escape From a Wonderful Life, and
that same year she landed a recurring role on The Conan O'Brien
show playing various characters in the skits on the show.
She made her feature film debut in Tomorrow Night (1998),
and that same year was the lone female cast member on The
Upright Citizens Brigade, a sketch type show on Comedy Central.
More feature films followed, like Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo
(1999) and Wet Hot American Summer (2001) before she landed
a coveted role on Saturday Night Live, the jumping off point
for many successful Hollywood careers. She is still with the
show and is watching her feature film career blossom with
roles in Martin & Orloff (2002) and the upcoming films Envy
(2004), Anchorman (2004) and Mean Girls (2004) in the near
future. As a side note, Amy is probably the best looking woman
ever to appear as a cast member on Saturday Night Live, so
kudos to her for that. |
