Writeup: Allison Smith, the youngest of six children,
was born in New York in 1969 and has been a professional actress
for the majority of her life. She debuted on Broadway at age
9 in the musical Evita and the next year landed the starring
role in the musical Annie, a role she would play for three
years. At the time, she was the youngest actress ever to star
in a Broadway musical. In 1984, shortly after her stint as
Annie, she landed the role of Jennie Lowell on the popular
series Kate & Allie, a role that would last until 1989.
After the show ended it's run she didn't appear in a Hollywood
production again until 1993's feature film Jason Goes to Hell:
The Final Friday (1993). Since then she has consistently worked
in feature films and television, leaving her greatest mark
on TV. She has starred on the shows Planet Rules (1995), Crazy
Love (1995), Spy Game (1997), Buddy Faro (1998), and St. Michael's
Crossing (1999), none of which lasted long. She also has a
wonderful recurring role on The West Wing, playing Mallory
O'Brien. Other feature films include A Reason to Believe (1995),
the terrific thriller Switchback (1997), Terror Tract (2000),
Holes (2003). |
